I am now using Disqus to handle the comments on my blog. Disqus is a new global blog commenting system. It has a lot of nice features, such as avatars, threaded conversations and global notifications. It allows you to track when a comment you posted got replied to and will in the future even support SMS notifications (hopefully this will work in Belgium as well). The Disqus forum page for this blog can be found at http://intraction.disqus.com/.
They have a simple WordPress plugin that you can install. I ticked the option “Replace all entries with no comments (including future posts)” to keep my existing comments, and use Disqus for posts without comments. When they have an import system, I will probably import all existing comments into the system as well.
Robert Scoble did an interview with Daniel Ha, the CEO of Disqus.

Hello Daniel,
Thanks for taking the time to personally welcome me to Disqus! It's always nice to see people who are passionate about their product and want to make sure that their customers enjoy using it.
My first experiences with Disqus are certainly good. The setup was pretty easy. There are a few things left to iron out, but I know you guys are working on them An important feature is being able to import existing comments. The WordPress plugin settings menu could have been a bit clearer on this as well (what does “Replace” exactly mean?).
A decisive feature for me are Trackbacks since I rely on them to let people know that I am commenting on their posts. I am not sure if Disqus is able to handle them.
Finally, I would love to be able to use the SMS notifications in Belgium (maybe for free like Google Calendar?)
So that concludes my initial feedback on Disqus Thanks for creating a great app and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback and I agree. In fact, every one of the things
you mention is on our immediate Todo list and we've been working to
get them out.
I'm sorry the WordPress plugin wasn't clear — replace just means to
use Disqus for your blog posts. The Disqus comment system “replaces”
your old WordPress system. We'll make this clearer immediately.
We don't handle trackbacks in the traditional sense, but we're going
to implement our own (better) version.
Thanks!

Disqus has ability to import existing comments as well as export comments. I didn't lose any comments when I moved to Disqus..Disqus is really good stuff methinks!

One of the main advantages Disqus is; it has is the ability for users to login with Facebook Connect where the comments also appear in the commentators newsfeed, which has the capacity to go viral.

Disqus now brings us the ability to comment using your Twitter account. You don’t have to give up your actual Twitter credentials since Disqus takes advantage of Twitter’s support..
